Remarkable Growth: 586 Births and 253 New Admissions in Al-Mustafa NICU

By Ahmed Raza | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We are pleased to provide you with a progress report for the period from May to November 2023, highlighting the exemplary dedication and success of Al-Mustafa Hospital NICU in delivering critical care to newborns. Thanks to your support, our team has significantly impacted the lives of these infants and their families. Here are some key outcomes and achievements:

  • Newborn Babies' Births:

During this period, Al Mustafa Hospital witnessed a total of 586 births. These included both Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery (S.V.D.) and Lower Segment Cesarean Section (L.S.C.S.). The distribution of births per month was as follows:

  1. May: 72
  2. June: 66
  3. July: 72
  4. August: 71
  5. September: 82
  6. October: 108
  7. November: 115
  • NICU Admissions-253

A total of 253 newborns were admitted to the NICU. This reflects the demand for specialized care. The breakdown of admissions is as follows:

  • Internal Admissions (Inside of hospital)-94

These are newborns born within Al Mustafa Hospital and received from the obstetrics department for further neonatal care.

  • External Admissions (Outside of hospital)-159

Neonates transferred from other hospitals and maternity centres sought special neonatal care at Al Mustafa Hospital.

  • Low Birth Weight Babies-104

We have successfully cared for 104 babies with low birth weights. Our multifaceted approach, which includes nutritional support, monitoring, and medical interventions, has been invaluable in addressing the complexities associated with these infants.

  • Premature Babies-71

Our skilled healthcare team has diligently managed the unique needs of 71 premature babies. The specialized care and attention provided have been vital in ensuring their well-being and development.

  • Ventilator Care Babies-44

The NICU's capability in managing critical respiratory conditions is evident in the care provided to 44 infants requiring ventilator support. Our expertise in ventilators ensures optimal respiratory assistance for newborns facing respiratory challenges.

We extend our deepest gratitude for your continued support, which enables us to make a difference in the lives of these newborns and their families. With your help, we will continue to provide exceptional care in the months to come.

Thank you once again for your generosity and belief in our mission.
