This project is aiming to provide water and food to hundreds of thousands of Internally Displaced Person (IDPs) who have been Sieged in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in Sudan, is dire. The current humanitarian situation is beyond imaginable and description. People-to-People (PTP) organization has conducted a needs assessment which appeals for an urgent humanitarian assistance. This includes lifesaving and basic human needs such as water, food, non-food items, and medication.
The ongoing siege, hostilities, and shelling of the city has resulted in 193 battles, putting many people in risk. Thousands of civilians have been displaced and others are trapped, without guarantees of safe passage out of the city. They are at risk of death or injury from indiscriminate attacks and severe shortages of food, health supplies, and water. It is worth noting that the city of El-Fasher already houses thousands of IDPs from the previous conflict of 2003, when mostly women, children,
Providing food and water is reflecting the in-depth of human solidarity and interest in alleviating the suffering of the most affected groups. As part of the rapid response to the difficult humanitarian conditions that the country is passing through. People are lucking food and water and thereof this project is considered to be a lifesaving which addresses the immediate needs especially children, pregnant women, and the elderly, are vulnerable to malnutrition due to inadequate food intake.
