Executive Summary
With the generous support of individuals and kind-hearted people through GlobalGiving, the project is all about helping internally displaced person (IDPs) and Conflict Affected Population in 7-gathering centers in Zalingei city of central Darfur State.
As part of humanitarian efforts to improve the living conditions of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other conflict affected populations in Central Darfur State, a vital project has been implemented in Zalingei central Darfur, to distribute clean drinking water at 7-IDPs gathering centers across the city. This project is generously supported by individuals through GlobalGiving, which continues its humanitarian work in the region in collaboration with local.
This project aims to provide safe and clean drinking water to more than 1,000 IDPs families residing in seven main gathering center within the city. These centers were identified based on the extent of need and the number of families residing within them. These communities suffer from limited access to safe water sources, making this intervention critical in maintaining public health and reducing the risk of diseases associated with contaminated water.
The significance and the main purpose of this project was to provide food, water and improve the local economy to the neediest people from the conflict affected population with specific goals outlined below:
2.1. Alleviating the suffering of displaced people: Providing clean water contributes to alleviating the daily burden on families who previously had to travel long distances in search of water.
2.2. Promoting Public Health: Reducing the spread of waterborne diseases, such as acute diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera, which pose a significant threat in crowded displacement settings.
2.3. Preventing girls from sexual abuse
2.4. Stabilization support: enhancing the sense of security and stability in shelters, allowing humanitarian organizations to focus on providing additional services.
2.5. To Promote Social Cohesion and Community Resilience
The project was implemented in Zalingei, under the leadership and supervision of a specialized field team from PTP , in coordination with of communities leaders of the gathering centers.
The primary beneficiaries of this project are IDPs at living at the bellow gathering centers:
4.1. Al-emam Ali primary School (gathering center)
4.2. Northern School (A) primary (gathering center)
4.3. Northern School (B) primary (gathering center)
4.4. Al-Mustaqbal primary School (gathering center)
4.5. Umm Al-Mu'minin School (gathering center)
4.6. Al-Mashrou' School (gathering center)
4.7. Al-Karnak School (gathering center)
5.1. Increasing number of IDPs and limited funds
5.2. The dry season in Darfur and luck of water
6.1. Providing more mater and food to the suffering people
6.2. Non-Food Items (NFI) are needed
6.3. Income generating activities to sustain their livelihood.
6.4. Cash Based Interventions (CBI)
6.5. Social peace project is essential across Darfur
