A child who learns to read gains a future filled with opportunity. This project will provide 500 vulnerable children in Kano State with essential literacy skills that unlock learning, confidence, and long-term success. Through structured classes, trained educators, and child-friendly materials, children will learn to read and write at grade level. This timely, measurable intervention offers donors a clear, scalable path to lasting educational impact.
Every day without literacy puts a child further behind. In Kano State, many children attend school yet cannot read or write, while others drop out due to poverty and lack of learning support. Overcrowded classrooms, limited teachers, and scarce reading materials deepen the crisis. Without early intervention, these children face lifelong barriers to education, employment, and economic stability.
This project delivers proven literacy support where it matters most. Five hundred children aged 6-12 will receive structured reading and writing instruction through small-group classes led by trained facilitators. Children will use age-appropriate books, receive continuous assessments, and gain personalized support. Community involvement will strengthen attendance and sustainability, ensuring the program is effective, accountable, and ready to scale.
Literacy is the foundation of lifelong success. Children who can read are more likely to stay in school, perform better academically, and avoid child labor and early dropout. This project will raise literacy levels, improve school retention, and strengthen community commitment to education. Over time, educated children become empowered adults, breaking cycles of poverty and building a stronger future for Kano State.
