Not only have we been watching Live and Learn in Kenya grow for the past 17 years - we are also watching the children grow into self-sufficient adults. It amazing to see the children change from scared little kindergarten children, happy for a warm meal and new clothes, into strong and proud young people. Today I would like to give Erick the chance to tell his story.
*Myself*
My name is Erick. I was born in the year 1994, and I am 23 years old at the present. Currently I am a student at Kibabii University pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. I am in my 3rd year of studies, second semester.
*Experience with Live and Learn in Kenya Int'l - aka LLK*
My experience with LLK is beyond my own words to explain. To be frank LLK Int. has been the core provider for my entire education. Without LLK I could not have made any steps into my academic career. I would most likely be roaming around in streets - having no life. Big thanks to LLK for the change they have made in my entire life. From the provision of basic needs, health care to secondary needs, it has always been LLK. Importantly, I have also learned a lot from the organization while going through primary school, high school and currently at universit - that hardwork, discipline and obedience is what I need to have in order to succeed in life.
*LLK's impact on me and my family*
Our family is made up of five cousins, my aunt and uncle and myself. The influence which LLK has made in my life is too significant for words to describe for me and my family. By paying my school fees and all school costs, health care and many other things, LLK brought a great change in life. My family has always been joyful and thankful for all that LLK has done to help me to achieve my goals and objectives in life. LLK has made a big difference in my family's lives through my education. My aunt believes that education is the light and key for a brighter future. Thus, they are full of gratitude to Live and Learn in Kenya International for all that they have done for me and for my family as a whole.
*What I intend to do with my education*
So far I can say I have made education the foundation of my life. As soon as I graduate, I will be utilizing my professional skills in various activities both in radio and television production. My ambition is to be a senior business reporter, video editor and television program producer. Lastly, I am intending to give back to the society through different means with my education.
Erick - April 26, 2018
Erick came to Live and Learn in Kenya as a small child. The family has a low income, making it difficult for the children to access basic needs, especially education. He is currently at university studying Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication. He has a B+ grade average!
You can be the light in a child's darkness by supporting the Live and Learn in Kenya International's sponsorship program.
