Expanding Access to Long-Acting Family Planning

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your interest in supporting rural Nigerian women seeking safe and reliable family planning options. Your concern acknowledges the health and economic pressures many women face due to unintended pregnancies.

In many rural communities, women wish to space or limit births but cannot access long-acting contraception. The Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD), which can prevent pregnancy for up to 10 years, is often unavailable or unaffordable. Without dependable options, women rely on short-term methods that may fail with inconsistent use, increasing maternal health risks and financial strain. This project will deliver mobile outreach services to villages, offering free counseling, safe IUCD insertion by trained nurse-midwives, and follow-up care. Each woman will receive clear information to make an informed and voluntary decision.

At present, only one donation has been received, which is not sufficient to begin outreach activities. Additional funding is required before services can commence. We kindly invite you to support or share this initiative.

With sincere appreciation,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
