Restoring hope for families with babies and young

Thank you for supporting our work with abandoned babies and families with babies and young children.

The war in Ukraine has affected so many lives, and families are desperate to survive. Since the war began we have connected with a number of volunteer groups including in Odessa, Lviv, and Kyiv. We have long-term relations and provide regular financial support to a volunteer group in Kharkiv who supports families with disabled children.

They reported on one family: “We had a case when we came to the frontline village, which was liberated (1200m to the border with Russia), but they were still shelling and bombing, we brought them food, medicines and fresh bread, a woman with a child in tears came up to us and said: thank you very much, you saved my child from starvation, can I hug you and kiss you? We hugged her and could not hold back tears ourselves.”

Sometimes abandonment occurs due to desperation. When possible, we prevent abandonment by supporting families. Like Alexandra’s family.

Alexandra has 6 children, one with a mental disability. Her husband doesn’t support the family financially and visits the children occasionally, and is often drunk. The family lived in a 1-bedroom house but the conditions were unsuitable for people to live in. She had to rent an apartment but most of the family’s money was spent on rent and utilities. Alexandra cannot work at the moment because her child with mental disabilities requires round-the-clock attention. Alexandra said that her daughter Maria tried to poke out her eyes with her fingers and displayed aggression towards other children. She could not even attend nursery.

The mother is very exhausted emotionally and physically. She is very tired because she has no opportunity to rest at all. When one of the children gets sick, the whole family gets sick in a couple of days. Considering Alexandra’s current condition, we referred her to a psychologist.

We have provided the family with food and household items to meet their needs. In addition, shoes and warm clothing were provided during autumn and winter.

Alexandra is very grateful for all the support and assistance she has received, and thanks everyone for their generosity and kindness.

Your donations change the lives of these people. Children can be in a healthy and nurturing environment, and babies are safe with or without their families.

Thank you

With gratitude
