When babies are left alone in the hospital, our dedicated nurse steps in to provide care and comfort. These little ones have no one else to look after them, but thanks to you, they receive the essentials and the love they deserve.

Your support also helps us prevent abandonment before it happens. Recently, we stood beside mothers raising their children alone and struggling to survive. With your help, we provided not only food and baby supplies but also psychological and emotional support. This care gives parents the strength and hope they need to keep their families together.

Two little girls lost their mother — and nearly lost each other. With no one else to care for them, their elderly grandmother stepped in, refusing to let the youngest be placed in an orphanage. She was desperate and overwhelmed, unable to cope financially. With the help of our partners, we stepped in so she could stay with the children and become their carer. She’s now doing everything she can to raise them with love and stability, despite limited resources and long-standing utility debts. In difficult times, a helping hand can change everything.

Because of you, these families didn’t have to break apart. You gave them a chance to stay united and to believe in a better future. Every act of kindness you show creates a ripple of hope that changes lives.

What Does Child Abandonment Due to Poverty Really Mean?

Child abandonment due to poverty is not a sign of a parent’s lack of love or responsibility. In many cases, it is love—and utter desperation—that forces a parent to make the most heartbreaking decision. When families are trapped in extreme poverty and violence, some feel they have no choice but to let go, believing it might offer their child a chance at a better life. It is not a decision made lightly, but one born from unbearable suffering and the hope that their child might be spared the same.

A Story of Loss, Strength, and Support

She was on the edge of giving up—trapped in an abusive relationship, surrounded by poverty, and struggling to raise her children alone. Fleeing from a life without safety or hope, she gave birth to her fifth child under incredibly difficult conditions. The baby was born prematurely, but with a strong cry—a fragile symbol of survival.

But the violence did not stop. In a drunken outburst, her husband returned from the front and attacked her again—this time unaware that their newborn was sleeping nearby. The baby stopped breathing, and the ambulance did not arrive in time. The trauma of losing her child in such a way was overwhelming. She no longer spoke about what happened, perhaps trying to shield her remaining children from the painful truth—or simply because the grief was too great to put into words.

Thanks to the compassionate work of our partner, she was not left to face this tragedy alone. She received immediate and ongoing support—food, clothing, medical care, assistance enrolling her children in school, and crucial psychological care to begin healing. Slowly, she is finding her strength again. She is holding on—for her children, and for the chance of a better life.
