Project Report | Dec 10, 2018
Preventing abortion

By Martin Wilcox | Director

Your support is invaluable to us. Thank you for caring enough for the babies in Ukraine to help thjem in theri early years.

Our abandoned babies project offers even more dramatic help - and you have made this possible with your support. Our partner works alongside mothers who are expecting a baby and we have learnt that they want to seek a termination.

Often it is because of poverty and that there is no food or clothes. The mother may not have the knowledge of what support is available to her and her expected baby. We hone in on the problem(s) and then we help to gather all documents needed for benefits and also help her with renting a place to live. We provide them with nappies, food, clothes and that help is available till a baby is 1 year old and mum can work.

Here is one story of, we shall call her Alex. She is an orphan herself. When she was 5 months pregnant  she asked ChildAid's partner for money for an abortion. It took us very long to persuade her to keep her baby but she agreed.

Upon the birth, we helped her to get a birth certificate, provided her with baby clothes, pram etc. and Alex is now very happy. She lives in a rented flat which her sister helps her to pay for it.

Today Alex'ss daughter is 2 years old and they still both visit our partner for some food or just to visit.

For obvious reasons of privacy we have decided not to include any pictures with this report.

This critical, life-saving work must continue. So do please pass onto any friends this report and the project link - sadly funds are urgently needed still.

Thank you and may you have a peaceful and blessed Christmas.
