Project Report | Nov 23, 2020
Thank You for Your Support

By Ryan West | Foundation Administrator

When Love City Strong started, our goal was to try and do a little bit of good for the St. John community in the wake of two unprecedented hurricanes. We knew that there was much to be done, and we know that there is still much to accomplish.

The Resilient Housing Initiative (RHI) has been our most ambitious project to date, and it is one that all of us at Love City Strong are extremely proud of. Restoring homes for seniors and families with young children is something that we are passionate about, and we are proud of the work that we have done. So many donors from around the globe have supported this project since it began in September 2018, and your generosity cannot be overstated.

As of November 2020, 35 homes have been rebuilt across St. John by RHI, and there are 5 more in our project queue that we will work on in 2021. As always, our work in RHI occurs alongide our partners at the St. John Community Foundation and by utilizing the skilled labor of the hardworking women and men of Cutting Edge Construction, J&D Woodworking, and dozens of other St. John-based contractors and small businesses.

Today we are pleased to report that the majority of fundingfor these final 5 jobsites has been secured thanks to a substantial contribution. Thus, we are closing out the RHI project on GlobalGiving in an effort to ensure that any future donations we receive through this platform can be used on our many other response and recovery projects.

We will continue to report regularly about RHI, because we know that this project matters as much to you just as much as it does to us. You can continue to follow the RHI's progress via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and by signing up for our quarterly e-newsletter (which you can do by completing the form at the bottom of our homepage).

Thank you to all who have donated to RHI. Without your kindness, none of what we have accomplished would be possible. Your generosity has helped bring over 100 individuals home.
