Suicide in Japan remains a serious concern, especially among children and young people. While preliminary national figures for 2025 show overall suicides falling below 20,000 for the first time (19,097 deaths), trends among youth remain alarming.
According to official preliminary data:
Young People Are Reaching Out
These numbers reflect a challenging reality. Yet within this challenge, there is hope: young people are seeking help.
These figures show that when trusted, confidential support is available, young people will reach out. Yet many still struggle in silence without clear or accessible paths to connection.
Your Support in Action
Through your generous contributions to this project, we have continued vital work to build community-based suicide prevention and support:
Your support helps ensure that when young people reach out, someone is there to listen.
A Call to the Community
You do not have to be a professional to make a difference. We all play a role in prevention when:
Every conversation strengthens the safety net for young people. More than financial support, it is an engaged and caring community that makes lasting change possible.
Thank You
To every friend, partner, and supporter of this project — thank you. Together, we are working toward a future where fewer young lives are lost to suicide, where help is accessible and visible, and where every young person knows that reaching out for support matters.
