Mangrove forests are the most important ecosystems among the tropical coasts. BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society) has been working for restoring mangroves since 2013.
At present, mangrove plantation activities at Mathurapur village is going on. Since May 10, 2021, BEDS has been conducting mangrove plantation activity. Local people are planting mangroves with happiness. Number of mangroves planted from 13 May 2021 in each day is:
13 May 780 mangroves, 14 May 910 mangroves, 15 May 550 mangroves, 16 May 625 mangroves, 17 May 915 mangroves, 18 May 780 mangroves, 19 May 900 mangroves and 20 May 915 mangroves. We are planting mangroves every day. So that we can plant 25,000 mangroves within 9 June 2021. BEDS has planted 2,33,695 mangrove saplings since 2013. The planted mangrove saplings must be taken care of. So, we are also discussing with local people for guarding.
The local people said that, “We need mangroves for our own survivability. Mangrove has been protecting us from devastating cyclones. So, we are panting mangroves for ourselves, for our future generation.”
We would like to thank all our donors for their support for us. We are also requesting our donors to start monthly recurring donations. For recurring donation please find the link below;
