Mangroves play an important role in the environment. BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society) has been working for restoring mangroves since 2013. Till now BEDS has planted 2,50,000 mangrove saplings in the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh.
BEDS established 6 mangrove nurseries. 5 Nurseries at Paschim Dhangmari village under Dacope Sub district of Khulna district and another one at Mathurapur village under Shyamnagar sub district of Satkhira district. Local people are working hard to make their nurseries. They are collecting mangrove seeds locally and they are using the seeds for the production of mangrove saplings. They are preparing soil with cowdung for producing mangrove saplings in the poly bag.
Some of our beneficiaries said, “We are mangrove resources harvester. We risk our life to collect resources from Sundarbans to earn money. Now we are getting money from the mangrove saplings at home. We do not need to risk our life anymore”.
We would like to thank all our donors for their contribution for us. We are also requesting our donors to start monthly recurring donations. For recurring donation please find the link below;
