Introduction
The Yucatan Peninsula is experiencing a rapid growth in its tourist industry, which is putting its rich biodiversity in danger. Development, which is not based on updated data about the marine environment, is causing harm to the ecosystems and freshwater supplies near the reefs. This results in an increase in coral diseases and other issues that negatively impact the health of the reef.
Report
The goal of this project is to support programs by conducting research and collecting data in these areas, as well as helping to rebuild and restore these amazing reefs. By working with local partners, we aim to identify, protect, and preserve areas with high biodiversity, as well as those that are critical for maintaining the ecological processes of the species. A small donation of just $20 will provide snorkel equipment for one community researcher.
