Dear Our Donors,
We have been able to start work, through your support on “Coexistence for Children”.
We have been carrying out our volunteering works as Mavi Kalem Dernegi in Istanbul in Fener - Balat (area) neighborhood since 2002. Fener – Balat is an area that has been lived together with people who comes from east, south east, black sea area of Turkey and also Syrian refugees, families. These people and families are exposed the discrimination by each other due to coming from different ethnic and religious backgrounds. Also living expenses and adaptation hardships of refugees in Fener – Balat area are increasing due to being in central location of Istanbul and being desired area for Urban Transformation Project by the Government. These people living together in Fener – Balat area can need to get some support in terms of psychological and being able to create peaceful communication. We (as a group) identified this problem of matter in the way of our children and Woman programs we carry out.
We have started to organize workshops in discrimination topics to develop the peaceful communication in our children and woman programs through your supports. Approximately 40 Children has joined our children organisations for 2 months. The numbers of children in our organisation are increase day after day. A Syrian Kid and woman are continuing to get Turkish language lessons to be able to make less their adaptation problems against the environment. The children from different backgrounds are learning what the meaning of discrimination, violence, and Art and playing traditional games for kids etc among their different cultures by getting together. Six children are continuing to get psychological counseling. We are providing children psychological counseling because of the families and children’s' requests. In order to develop the cultural adaptation of Turkish and Syrian children and play games together, approximately 40 children who live in Fener – Balat area joined the our Picnic organisation.
We have already started to make the children ready to be made presentation and shown by themselves from our works for our end summer festival.
