Africa has 24% of the world's burden of disease and only 3% of the healthcare workforce to tackle it. Rural areas such as Chogoria, are particularly challenged by lack of resources for healthcare opportunities. HopeCore has strategically identified a solution to the chronic problem facing rural villages in Africa: bring healthcare to the people. HopeCore successfully provides this through their comprehensive mobile clinic program.
There is a large shortage of not only health resources, but healthcare education in places like Chogoria. Many health professionals in rural Africa do not have the opportunity to further their medical education due to lack of funding, transportation etc. The MedTreks Kenya program addresses this issue by providing hands-on skills training and health education for the local HopeCore staff. In addition to training, MedTreks raises funds for medical supplies, needed for the HopeCore clinics.
The healthcare worker shortage in Kenya persists and will only be worsened by the continued population growth in Africa. MedTreks Kenya program provides regular in-service training to HopeCore, free of charge in addition to providing necessary clinic materials and medical equipment. Through donations and support, MedTreks will be able to continue their partnership and mission to helping HopeCore reach their goals in expanding and improving community health services for all of East Africa.
