Summary

The project aims to create an environment where Kenyan girls can live with dignity and peace of mind. We provide reusable sanitary pads to girls who can't get enough sanitary pads in Kenyan Refugee Camps. We also give the community an education for menstrual hygiene to maintain the dignity of women.

Challenge

Menstruation interferes with girls' dignity and studies. In Kenya, many men have defined menstruation as a matter for women because of deep-rooted superstitions and prejudices. Women used to use unsanitary cloth or goat skin instead because their father didn't buy them sanitary pads due to the wrong perception of menstruation. In addition, there are bullying and teasing from boys about girls during menstruation in schools.

Solution

To support women who cannot get sanitary pads, we manufacture and distribute washable sanitary pads. This allows girls to go to school without worrying about menstruation. We also hold workshops to raise awareness of menstrual hygiene for the entire community, including men. They share their experiences on physiology and conduct group discussions. Workshops can solve male apathy and bullying problems in school.

Long-Term Impact

We can protect the freedom and health of girls. They don't have to be absent from school because of their menstruation. They can study comfortably and have confidence. Reduce teen pregnancy rates by educating youth pregnancy risks and prevention and response through workshops. They also gives the entire community the right knowledge of hygiene. So they can live a clean and healthy life.
