Campus to Community: Menstrual Health Support

By BIENVENUE KONSIMBO | FOUNDER

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our partners and student organizations, whose contributions have been essential to advancing menstrual equity. Fundraising and donation initiatives including Potluck Socials, Donation Drives, and Karaoke Socials were organized by The Rosies, FRUGAL, PIH, Aggie Babes, and Texas A&M’s Period Project chapter. In addition, the Period Pack Party hosted by MedLife, a student-led organization at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, played a crucial role in supporting this project.

On November 20, 2025, MedLife hosted a Period Pack Party in support of Girl Now Woman Later (GNWL), assembling 50 menstrual kits. Each kit contained essential menstrual hygiene items, including wipes, pocket-sized pads, regular pads, tampons, and panty liners. These critically needed kits will be distributed during upcoming Menstruation Education & Empowerment Workshops in Burkina Faso, directly supporting girls’ health, dignity, and confidence.

GNWL 2025 Seasonal Ambassador Shayna J., who helped coordinate the MedLife event, shared:

“After working with MedLife and GNWL, I am eager to continue organizing events that benefit young women in international communities such as Burkina Faso.”

Another GNWL 2025 Seasonal Ambassador, Saylor M., reflected on her experience:

“What motivated me to work with GNWL was the mission and the enthusiasm everyone involved displayed. GNWL provides girls with resources and knowledge they can use not only in their own lives, but for future generations. These initiatives brought people together to think beyond donating and ask how we can make an intentional difference in global health, especially menstrual hygiene.”

At Girl Now Woman Later, we believe that meaningful volunteerism has no single blueprint and no boundaries. Together, these efforts create a clear pathway from kits to workshops to lasting empowerment. The 50 menstrual kits assembled through MedLife will support approximately 50 girls during Menstruation Education & Empowerment Workshops in Burkina Faso, ensuring they have both the supplies and knowledge needed to manage their periods with dignity. In addition, GNWL received approximately 30 boxes of menstrual products (pads and tampons) from Texas A&M’s Period Project chapter, allowing us to extend our reach beyond a single workshop. By combining material support with education, these initiatives foster confidence, improve school participation, and help ensure that menstruation is never a barrier to opportunity.
