With the money raised so far, the NICU will be able to purchase a brand new sleep apnoea machine, valued at over $2,000AUD.
A premature baby needs every bit of strength they have to grow, put on weight and develop better lung capacity. They need to conserve their energy for growing stronger, rather than fighting for air.
These new monitors will accurately monitor a baby’s breathing, sound the alarm if a baby stops breathing or if their heart rate is too low, and keep babies breathing.
They also provide parents with greater peace of mind that their precious newborn will receive the help they need if they are struggling to breathe.
This is all possible thanks to the support of people like you who gave so generously.
Thank you for giving sick and premature babies the best possible start to life, and for supporting the incredible work the Mercy Health NICU staff do each and every day.
