The project will help solve the problems being faced by KENYA WOMEN PREMIER LEAGUE AND DIVISION ONE FOOTBALLERS, by conducting menstrual hygiene management sessions for all the 32 female clubs(800 players) in both leagues and also distribution of sanitary towel for 3 seasons(2020-2024) With poor pay most footballers are forced to wear hand-made rags as alternative solutions when playing football risking infections and diseases while others due to shame they quit football altogether.
There are 32 female football clubs in Kenya premier league and division one who still face problems during their menstruation periods, with poor to no pay most girls cannot afford sanitary towels or have knowledge about menstrual hygiene management. According to one of the coaches, "it is a big issue for our players, some are even forced to wear rags as an alternative solution when playing games or training".
This project is going provide sanitary towels to each footballer and also educate them on menstrual hygiene management to help them understand their menstrual cycles and be a good role model to younger girls in the communities.
The project aims to educate footballer players to become ambassadors so that they can help reach more younger girls in the community and their families.
