In the last report, we had provided information regarding the provision of Safe Water Filtration Systems to women living in slum neighborhoods in Lusaka, Zambia. Based on the need in communities, we will be adding add mental healthcare and support services to women. Mental health struggles—often fueled by trauma, poverty, and the weight of HIV—frequently go untreated due to deep social stigma. We are partnering with government clinics and a hospital in Lusaka, to provide mental health services. In addition, by deploying our trained community health workers, we can provide structured mental health support to women and adolescents. In the next few months, women enrolled in our micro loans program who need mental health support will be identified and included in this initiative.
We launched this mental health program on a small scale and will be expanding slowly. Currently, we have only 60 active patients, but 500 adults and adolescents are on a waiting list. As more women receive mental health support, families will be strengthened and mental wellness will become a part of every family's daily activity.
Thank you for your caring and support for women in Zambia.
