Access to credit: Power of Love's micro loans program provides multiple loans, business training, ongoing training, and support to vulnerable women in Zambia. The provision of credit and ongoing support has been critical in building a self-reliant community of women who are running successful businesses and are able to take good care of their families.

Goals of our micro loans program are: (i) equip women with the tools they need to run a successful business, (ii) create conditions for social empowerment, and (iii) enable women to gather enough capital and savings so they can continue to run a profitable business even after graduating from the program.

To achieve these goals, all program activities focus on increasing skills levels in the community and provision of entrepreneurial training and support to first time women entrepreneurs. Our team on the ground closely monitors more than 600 businesses operated by current loan recipients. In addition, our team members continue to advise the more than 2,000 women who have graduated from this program. Earnings from these 2,500 businesses benefit more than 18,000 family members, provide employment, and keep approximately 10,000 children in school.

What next? Over the next two months, 300 women will receive training in entrepreneurial skills so that they are better equipped for business success. After completion of business training, the newly trained entrepreneurs start businesses such as vegetables/grocery stand, used clothing, used shoes, blankets, school uniforms, dress making, bed sheets etc. In addition, the provision of ongoing business training, support, and loans result in sustainable families, and improved gender equity.

Thanks for building a community  of self-reliant women.
