Severe hunger affects thousands of children living in camps for displaced families in Borno State, Nigeria. Many are underweight and weak due to lack of food. This project will provide powdered milk and safe drinking water to 1,000 children in one IDP camp. Milk is rich in nutrients and helps malnourished children regain strength. With your help, we can feed hungry children and support their recovery.
In Borno's IDP camps, food is scarce and many children suffer from hunger and poor growth. Families struggle to feed their children as they rely on aid, which often arrives late or runs out. Infants and toddlers are the hardest hit, often surviving on leftover grains and water. Without milk or other protein-rich foods, many remain weak and prone to infection
The project will distribute powdered milk mixed with clean water to 1,000 children in an IDP camp. Milk will be given daily under supervision. Health workers will track weight and signs of recovery. Each child will receive a measured portion to reduce waste and improve recovery from hunger-related weakness.
Children who regain strength early are more likely to survive, walk, and grow normally. Parents will gain feeding support and rely less on unclean or unsafe foods. Health workers will also identify and refer severely weak children for urgent care. A small intervention like this can help children recover and give families some relief.
