Hunger Weakens Children in Borno IDP Camps

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We sincerely thank the donors who have supported the Milk for Starving Kids in Borno IDP Camp, Nigeria project. Your generosity reflects concern for children living in difficult conditions within displacement camps. At this moment, however, the funds received are still not sufficient to begin the planned milk distribution program.

In camps for displaced families in Borno State, many children face serious food shortages. Families who fled violence and insecurity often rely on limited food aid that may not arrive regularly. Because of this, many children survive on very small portions of food, sometimes only grains mixed with water.

Infants and toddlers are among the most affected. Without access to protein-rich foods such as milk, many remain underweight and weak. Malnourished children are more vulnerable to infections and illnesses, and recovery becomes more difficult when proper nutrition is unavailable.

This project aims to provide powdered milk and safe drinking water to 1,000 children living in an IDP camp. The milk will be prepared and distributed daily under supervision to ensure proper portions. Health workers will monitor the children’s weight and general health condition to observe signs of improvement.

Providing milk regularly can help strengthen children who are suffering from hunger and poor nutrition. Early nutritional support can improve growth, increase energy levels, and reduce vulnerability to illness.

We are grateful for the support already received and for the compassion shown toward these vulnerable children. Your kindness encourages our team and gives hope to families living in the camp. We warmly welcome others who may wish to stand with these children so that this feeding effort can soon begin bringing nourishment and relief to those who need it most.

Sincerely,

Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
