Every afternoon, as the final school bell echoes through Missionvale, a little girl named Anesipho begins a journey that has become the happiest part of her day. She walks to Missionvale Care Centre with a backpack on her shoulders and a smile that grows bigger with every step. She knows what awaits her. Friendly faces. Books waiting to be opened. A safe place to belong.

And perhaps most importantly, the certainty that today, she will not go hungry.

For Anesipho, our centre is far more than an after-school programme. It is a place where hope quietly replaces worry, where encouragement drowns out self-doubt, and where every child is reminded that they matter.

Life at home is not easy. Like so many families in Missionvale, hers faces the daily reality of unemployment and food insecurity. There are days when putting a meal on the table is an enormous challenge. The food parcels they receive from Missionvale Care Centre have become more than groceries. They are relief at the end of a difficult week. They are parents who can breathe a little easier. They are a reminder that, even in the hardest seasons, they are not walking alone.

When Anesipho first joined our programme, reading and writing felt like mountains she wasn't sure she could climb. She struggled to recognise words and lacked the confidence to participate in class. Our facilitators patiently worked alongside her, celebrating every small victory along the way.

Slowly, something beautiful began to happen. Letters became words. Words became sentences. The shy little girl who once hesitated to read aloud now eagerly raises her hand during lessons. She spends time in our library, happily turning page after page, discovering new stories and practising the skills she has worked so hard to build. Every book she opens widens her world just a little more.

When school holidays arrive, her learning doesn't stop. She eagerly joins our Holiday Programme, where education is woven together with games, creativity, laughter and friendship. It is another opportunity to grow, surrounded by children who cheer one another on.

None of this would be possible if hunger occupied the centre of her thoughts.

Before and after the After-School Programme, Anesipho receives bread and juice to keep her going. During the holidays, her day begins with a warm bowl of porridge before enjoying a nutritious lunch with her friends.

These meals nourish growing bodies, but they also unlock something less visible. They allow children to concentrate, participate, imagine and dream. This is the extraordinary ripple effect of your generosity.

The food parcels you make possible do far more than feed families. They lift an impossible burden from parents' shoulders. They help children arrive at school ready to learn. They create space for confidence to grow, friendships to flourish and futures to be rewritten.

Today, Anesipho walks through our gates with a confidence that simply wasn't there before. She laughs more freely. She reads with growing assurance. She dreams a little bigger. And every step of that journey has been made possible by people she may never meet, yet who have changed her life in ways that words can scarcely capture.

Thank you for believing that every child deserves the chance not only to survive, but to learn, to grow and to dream. Together, one meal has become so much more.
