Thank you for your continued support of Imani House. Together we can improve access to heath care for the children, women, and families of Liberia. Since the crisis of Ebola, much progress has been made in Imani House Liberia. One of our two ambulances on the ground in Brewerville has been converted to a mobile clinic to reach isolated communities in need, while the second serves to provide transportation to local hospitals for emergency treatment. Here is a glimpse of our progress so far:
Our Mobile Health Team is on the Move! Imani House’s mobile health services have begun in the village of Royceville, a district of 13 communities where health care if not available. The town leaders have provided an empty building in a central location. However in order for patients to reach the area they must first cross a river by canoe. Hardship and poverty in Liberia continues for the majority long after the end of the Liberian civil war.
Just imagine the amount of women and children we can now reach on wheels. We expect to serve at least 6,000 Liberians who will no longer be forced to walk up to 6 hours just to reach the Imani House Clinic or others.
Saving a Life - Our Ambulance was there! Two weeks ago the Imani House Mobile Health Team saved the life of the Royceville Commissioner, during a mobile clinic visit to this community. The Commissioner was rushed by the ambulance to a hospital several miles away when he appeared to be suffering heart problems. If his family would have had to transport him by local traffic he would have had to change cars at various junctions and it with the congested traffic it would have taken three hours or more.
With Your Support, we can fully equip our ambulances, increase the number of villages we can increase our Mobile Health Care services, maintain the ambulances, and continue to ensure that the ambulances are made available for emergencies.
It’s a great and exciting time to reach into your heart and give to Imani House Liberia.
On the Horizion: In collaboration with ProLiteracy, a U.S. based Adult Literacy organization, Imani House will be creating Liberia focused health manuals to be used in these rural areas for health sanitation awareness and education. This pilot project is expected to reach at least 600 rural Liberians helping them to better understand how to improve sanitation and preventative health practices that will avoid future epidemics like Ebola.
