Melanoma Canada's Mole Mobile is Canada's first mobile skin cancer screening unit. First introduced in 2023, the Mole Mobile tackles Canada's biggest healthcare concern, ACCESS! It shines a light on the shortage of Dermatologists in Canada, and brings Dermatologists to remote, Indigenous, and underserved communities as well as major cities that have long wait times to see a Dermatologist. In 2024, we introduced a second unit to the fleet of now two which continue to travel across Canada.
In Canada we have a severe shortage of Dermatologists with only 800 for a population of 40 million people. The majority practice in major urban centers leaving those in remote communities without access. Melanoma and skin cancer incidence and death rates are on the rise, the challenge is early diagnosis.
The Mole Mobiles bring certified Canadian Dermatologists to remote, Indigenous and underserved communities and major cities with long wait times to see a Dermatologist. In 2025, the Mole Mobiles have visited 104 communities, conducted 7,773 skin cancer screenings and found 973 skin cancers.
The Mole Mobiles help ensure earlier diagnoses of melanoma and skin cancer, which improve outcomes for patients, giving them more time with their families, and lower the cost to the Canadian healthcare system to treat late stage disease.
