Update from : The SHINE Humanity / CDRS Pediatric Center and the Civil Hospital Pediatric Ward in Shikarpur, Sindh
The SHINE Humanity / CDRS Pediatric Ward in Shikarpur, Sindh was established on October 1st 2010, and this ward along with the Civil Hospital Pediatric Ward have been supported by the generous donations of SHINE Humanity and Global Giving supporters since the times of the great floods in 2010.
About 800 to a 1000 pediatric patients are treated at these two wards every month.1813 children were provided care during March and April of this year. 47.55 percent of the patients were girls and 52.45 percent were boys under the age of 14. Daily patient data are maintained at this facility and reported to CDRS and SHINE every month.
After a recent monitoring visit,CDRS manager Abaid, reported most of the admitted children were suffering from Diarrhea, Malaria, Malnutrition, Measles and Febrile Fits and they were being ably treated by the doctor and staff appointed for these wards. Funding from our supporters helps pay for the doctor, staff and medicines which are provided free of cost to the patients. But there is a need for more medicines and other supplies to help in the continued management of these children.
We would like to say thank you again to all our supporters and to GlobalGiving for their contributions. We look forward to your continued support in helping us provide the necessary care for the sick and needy children of Shikarpur.
