In the home stretch at the "Land of Dreams"

We have great news! The 19 monkeys who embarked on the journey from Machia to Jacj Cuisi are now enjoying the vast jungle in the Land of Dreams. The journey was long (over 30 hours by bus!), but well worth it. This journey was undertaken by the 15 monkeys from the Heaven area in Machia and 4 monkeys from the Earth area.

At Machia Sanctuary, these monkeys had little space to move around properly, in addition to facing other inconveniences such as the nearby village and the noise from the road. At Jacj Cuisi, on the other hand, the area is immersed in the jungle, allowing the monkeys more space to leave their enclosures in a runner system, which enables them to climb trees, search for insects, and develop their natural behaviors in a controlled jungle environment. At Machia, their runners ranged from 2 to 3 meters. Now they have systems up to 20 meters long!

Supporters showed up in a big way when we first began moving Machia's rescued animals to Jacj Cuisi. You helped create a beautiful home for the albifrons (white-faced capuchin monkeys), spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, coatis and tayra, and approximately half of the capuchin monkeys. They are all thriving and we are so thankful to everyone who helped make it happen.

The work isn't done, though, and unfortunately the donations have tapered off. We understand it's been a long process, but we're in the home stretch -  Machia now has only the remaining capuchins, who will move to Jacj Cuisi, the birds, who will move to Ambue Ari, and dear Balu, who will stay in Machia because the climate suits him better.

Please help us see this project through. Once the animals are settled in their new areas, we can all take a deep breath and focus on our main job, which never pauses for a day - caring for over 500 magnificent animals. Please consider making a monthly donation to support this project through to completion.

Kindest regards,

The CIWY/FIWY team
