Jamal, who migrated from Aleppo to Türkiye with his family when he was 7 years old, escaped from the devastating effects of war. He shapes his life with hope. Jamal is now a high school student and spends all his time studying to achieve his dream.
Jamal dreams of being self-sufficient and able to travel whenever he wants. He plans to complete his education. The 16-year-old young man stated that he enjoyed going to school. He says that school is a special place because he does not feel alone. Education's meaning for Jamal is different. Jamal, who lost his father in the war, says, “I want to be a doctor when I grow up. There was no doctor to cure my father. I will heal everyone's family, no one's father will die" emphasizing that he believes in the success he will achieve through education.
Jamal has a strong curiosity about other people's feelings. He solves his problems with the lessons he learned from the books he read. According to Jamal life is different thanks to books and he learned to evaluate people from various perspectives. Jamal said, "Judgement of people without understanding them could break their hearts. I can empathize thanks to books.”.
Jamal met Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization(ASAM) while pursuing his hobbies that add color to his life. Jamal stated that he regularly attends Al Farah Child and Family Support Center affiliated with ASAM and feels very valuable here. “Everyone here is very understanding and sensetive towards me. "I feel very valuable," said Jamal, adding that he took violin and guitar courses at this center which support his social development and allow him to develop his hobbies.
