When Nour came to Türkiye from Aleppo, Syria, she was only 8 years old. She wasn’t able to continue her education regularly because of the war and often felt behind compared to her peers. She was excited to start school, but due to the challenges she had experienced, she initially had difficulty adapting.
Nour received the support of her classmates and teachers, and their encouraging attitudes helped her interest in school and her self-confidence grow.
During this time, she and her mother were introduced to Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization (ASAM). She regularly participated in various activities at ASAM. These activities broadened her social circle and boosted her self-confidence. She also quickly began learning Turkish.
Today, Nour continues her education where she left off, thanks to the support of ASAM and the contributions of her classmates.
“When I return to my country, I will become a teacher, and as I pass on all the knowledge to children, I will carry my friends in Türkiye and the support they have given me in my heart,” she says.
