This is a gender-based violence campaign mainly targeted at men in the taverns and workplace. It seeks to educate the men on the negative impact of gender-based violence. Taverns are an ideal place to carry out the campaign because it is estimated that a lot of gender-based violence cases are due to alcohol and more over men congregate in these places. And if they do not consume alcohol, we target them at the work place. The campaigns seek to highlight to the men that they are the protectors of
thousands of women and children are killed in south africa. South Africa has one of the worlds highest rates of femicide. Women die daily at the hands of the men they trust. Gender violence in South Africa is a result of the Patriarchal nature of the society. Men continue to be perceived as the heads of the household and have resounding control over women. This perpetuates gender violence as men are seen to have control over women and seen as owning them thus being able to do whatever they want
The starting point is to educate the men on gender equality and conscientising them on the changes that have taken place in gender rolls in most societies in the world, men and women are now equals. We aim to educate men in their workplaces and where they congregate and socialize. We aim to do this through campaigns which teach the men to protect their families instead of harming them, we aim to teach them about equal gender roles in households. that it is ok for a men to wash dishes too.
We aim to reduce gender based violence in South African households and promote gender equality at homes and in the workplace. This is also a way of empowering more women in south Africa. It is very important that the men and boys start to take a leading role in ending Gender based violence in the country
