The 2015 earthquake in Nepal caused widespread devastation. PHASE aims to address the lack of disaster risk reduction awareness by providing emergency relief, reconstruction, and recovery efforts. The project focuses on rebuilding infrastructure, supporting livelihoods, and equipping local governments with disaster risk reduction plans. The goal is to develop resilient communities with improved infrastructure, services, and disaster preparedness skills, reducing the impact of future disasters.
The April 2015 earthquake in Nepal caused extensive destruction, impacting homes, livelihoods, and lives. Nepal faces recurring natural disasters like floods, landslides, storms, and fires, resulting in annual losses. The local community and government struggle to effectively prevent and mitigate these disasters. PHASE provides emergency relief and reconstruction, but there is limited awareness of DRR. PHASE Nepal seeks funding to implement programs and improve disaster preparedness.
PHASE will provide support for the both the short-term relief and long-term recovery of communities while also preparing the communities to mitigate the risk of future disasters. This includes rebuilding public infrastructure such as schools and health posts, as well as supporting livelihood activities as well as preparing the local governments with DRR plans and strategies. In line with our philosophy of empowerment, PHASE will also continue build resilient and self-empowered communities.
As well as addressing immediate needs, PHASE plan to build strong communities in the long term to ensure that the infrastructure and services meeting needs of the local people while developing resilience in the communities in the long run with plans, strategies and skills on disaster preparedness.
