Earthquake and disaster risk reduction in Nepal

Dear friends,

In response to a devastating fire that broke out on 17^th June 2025 PHASE Nepal swiftly mobilized emergency support for the affected families in Unapani, Humla. The disaster left 8 households without food and basic supplies, putting lives at immediate risk. Only houses were damaged in the fire, with 8 houses completely burned down, but thankfully, no human lives or livestock were harmed.

In the presence of the local authorities, including the Ward Chairperson and Sarkegad Rural Municipality Chairperson, PHASE Nepal distributed essential food packages to the fire-affected families. The relief materials included:

• Rice
• Lentils
• Cooking oil
• Flour
• Beans and
• Other essential food items

A total of 8 families received this emergency support, helping them meet their immediate food needs and regain a sense of security after the disaster.

This initiative was carried out in close coordination with local government representatives, ensuring the relief reached the most affected households efficiently and transparently.
