Dear friends,
In August 2025, PHASE Nepal provided essential emergency relief support to families affected by devastating floods in Bichhya, Bajura district, in western Nepal. The heavy rainfall and flooding on 13 August 2025 destroyed homes, washed away food stocks, and damaged farmland with growing crops — leaving many families struggling to meet their basic needs.
With your support, PHASE Nepal distributed dry food packages containing rice, pulses, cooking oil, and salt to 24 flood-affected families. Among them, three families were extremely poor and had lost their homes completely, while two families included members with disabilities, who faced even greater challenges in recovery.
To support their immediate shelter needs, these most vulnerable families also received CGI sheets to help construct transitional shelters, giving them a safe place to live while they rebuild their homes.
This emergency assistance was carried out in close coordination with local authorities to ensure that the most affected households received timely and transparent support.
“When the flood swept away our home, we were left with nothing. PHASE Nepal brought us food and shelter materials when we had no hope. Their support helped us survive and start rebuilding our lives.”
– Mina Giri (name changed), flood survivor, Bichhya, Bajura
In addition, some of the classrooms and WASH facilities at Bichhya Secondary School were also significantly damaged by the flood. The school management has requested support for the restoration of these facilities. PHASE Nepal is now seeking resources to help rebuild them under the “build back better” approach, incorporating earthquake-resilient design.
We are sincerely thankful for your generous support and for making this timely response possible. Your compassion helped families in Bajura find relief, dignity, and hope after the floods.
Thank you for standing with us in times of crisis.
Warm regards,
PHASE Nepal Team
