Thanks to your donations we organized two workshops to prepare teachers and facilitators from 9 different organizations on how to provide digital education for senior citizens. This would give them the opportunity to improve their community outreach, improve their organizational capacity and provide better services. The participants were made aware of the special needs and the importance of the inclusion of elderly people through ICT, using a pedagogical methodology called “SER ACTIVO” (be active).
The workshops allow social organizations to learn the best way to guide senior citizens to use digital tools to create “love networks” by keeping in touch with their loved ones, improve personal care and strengthen their self-worth.
The facilitators trained in these workshops, will in turn teach over 840 senior citizens from Antioquia, Chocó, Risaralda and Quindío (Colombian regions), who have little to no experience with computers. Teaching 30 hour courses in libraries, community centers that will provide them with technological skills giving the opportunity to discover new worlds improve their quality of life and increase their independence.
Your contributions allow facilitators and their organizations to improve the way they approach the communities they serve, making them better and more empathic towards the nneds of elderly people and with better tools to spread their knowledge. Thanks to your donations we create a ripple effect helping them to serve others better.
