The Women's Training Garden is part of the Alliance's Nurturing Nutrition Program, and provides women and their families with education on nutrition and gardening practices, in addition to providing food for their families.
In the last several months there have been some internal struggles between the women working in the garden. The Alliance brainstormed and decided to apply our Healthy Village Workshop model to the garden, and the results we amazing!
Our in country Field Director facilitated a one-day long training for the women, where they were able to engage in dialogue through: voicing their concerns, problem solving to find solutions, and drawing pictures to create short and long term goals for themselves, and the garden as a whole.
Since the training our Field Director says all the women are now working together. Our Field Director explained that the garden has had a prosperous harvest season and the women and their families have benefited from the extra food and extra income. Learning to work together is making everyone more successful!
