We are thrilled to announce that the School Cafeteria (Comedor Madre Teresa de Calcuta) at U.E. San Francisco Javier, located in the Lídice sector of Catia, has officially started. This vital initiative is providing daily breakfasts to our preschool community, ensuring our students and staff begin their day with the nutrition they need.
Each morning, from Monday to Friday, we are serving a total of 66 nutritious breakfasts (54 preschool children, 6 teachers, 3 cooks, and 3 support staff members).
Our inaugural week featured balanced, culturally familiar meals:
• Monday: Arepa with ham and cheese, Toddy, and watermelon.
• Tuesday: Chicken empanada, watermelon juice, and grapes.
• Wednesday: Pancakes with cheese, pear juice, and strawberries.
• Thursday: Bollitos (corn buns) with cheese, guava juice, and peach or banana.
• Friday: Ham and yellow cheese sandwich, oatmeal (avena), and fruit.
This cafeteria is a cornerstone of our broader program, Manantial de Esperanza (Spring of Hope), which integrates nutrition with professional growth. This program currently drives two key pillars:
1. Teacher Training & Academic Excellence
In partnership with UCAB (Universidad Católica Andrés Bello), we are currently empowering our staff through specialized diplomas:
• 7 teachers are specializing in Computational Thinking.
• 10 teachers are participating in the Pedagogical Mediation of Learning diploma.
2. Technical Vocational Training
We are excited to share that technical training will soon become a reality. We will be launching Bakery and Pastry courses alongside Business Management workshops. These will take place in a specially equipped industrial kitchen within the school, providing essential livelihood tools for our school staff and students in their 3rd and 4th years of high school (Bachillerato).
This milestone was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity shown during our Giving Tuesday campaign. Your contributions have directly translated into plates of food and life-changing educational opportunities for the community of Catia.
Thank you for believing in “Manantial de Esperanza”
