Afghanistan is facing a severe nutrition crisis. Following the 2021 civil unrest, over 24.4 million people now need humanitarian aid. Around 95% of families lack adequate food. Acute malnutrition affects 33 of 34 provinces, with over 3.1 million children under five and 720,000 pregnant or lactating women impacted. Nearly 1 million malnourished children are not receiving treatment due to conflict, poor access, and broken health systems. Urgent, coordinated humanitarian action is needed to provide
eryuzu Doktorlar works in Afghanistan Nutrition Health Centers with a total team of 44 people consisting of 1 project coordinator, 15 nutrition counselors, 11 nutrition nurses, 11 midwives in Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams, 1 M&E, 1 admin/HR/procurement officer, 1 finance specialist, 1 media staff, 1 technical officer, and 1 cleaner. This team has provided nutritional examinations, treatment and education more than 1.150.000 people.
Contributing to the reduction of severe and moderate malnutrition in children under 5 years old, pregnant and lactating women. Detecction, examination and treatment of 5,886 children under 5 years of age with SAM. 9,634 children under 5 years of age with MAM were identified, examined and treated. 7,43 thousand 43 PLW children identified, examined and treated.
