Since 2000, the High Atlas Foundation (HAF) has been committed to advancing sustainable prosperity throughout Morocco. HAF aims to achieve local, regional, and global benefits by collaborating with companies and institutions that want to balance their carbon footprints, and by planting trees. Why trees? The destruction of forests for agriculture or industry is one of the main drivers of the climate crisis. Planting trees, which sequester carbon directly, contributes to reversing climate change.
We often encounter situations in which emitting carbon is inevitable. With 20 years of development experience in Morocco, HAF wants to help you offset your footprint by investing in the country's rural farming communities. Morocco is one of the world's most vulnerable regions to climate change. Today, it has less than 2% tree cover and it suffers from deforestation, erosion, and limited water reserves. Trees address all these pertinent issues.
The ability of Moroccan drylands to store extraordinary amounts of CO2 has been verified by institutions such as the UN, making it the ideal location for planting trees. Our robust monitoring team, ground surveying and remote sensing, and unique governmental and civil partnerships ideally position us to offer a means to offset your carbon output. The High Atlas Carbon Solution will ensure that carbon sequestered today cools the climate for years to come.
Partnering with HAF on tree planting does not just yield carbon offset credits to achieve sustainability goals but it also empowers Moroccan people, especially women. HAF's unique participatory approach involves local communities in the planning and implementation of projects, driving economic, social, and environmental improvements for generations to come as well as ensuring that carbon is sequestered and stored in the long term. Using this process,HAF creates a sustainable and inclusive future
