We're off to plant fruit trees Uganda again!
By Lizzy Rainey | Programs Manager

Spring is right around the corner and so is our next trip to Uganda! In just a few short weeks, FTPF will be on our way to Jinja in order to plant and distribute tens of thousands of fruit trees to families, farmers, and students.
We are very proud of the work we have achieved in the region in the six years we have been working here, with stories of students lining up several times a week to receive fresh fruits from their schoolyard orchard and farmers having 100% survival of their trees.
Thank you for your continued support of Fruit Trees for Uganda. We can't wait to get back to this beautiful part of the world in order to create sustainable, long-term sources of nutrition that contribute to a cleaner, greener environment for all!
PS: There is still time to join us as a volunteer, working side-by-side with our staff and local families to plant fruit trees. The trip ends at one of Africa's most celebrated national parks and wildlife areas. See our website for details and to apply!
To a fruitful future,
The FTPF Team

What a fruitful 2019!

Dear friend,
With your help, the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation has planted more than 80,000 trees in five countries in 2019, bringing the environmental, nutritional, economic, and social benefits of fruit trees to thousands of people in diverse communities around the world. We have planted orchards at schools, public parks, gardens, native and indigenous lands, forest reserves, community, health, and rehabilitation centers, farmers cooperatives, prisons, and nonprofits working towards food and environmental justice.
We are so grateful to all of our friends and supporters who have contributed towards our programs this year and hope you will consider making a year-end donation to help us bring fruit trees to Ugandan families in 2020!
Gratefully,
The FTPF Team
PS: We really need help reaching our fundraising goal of $3,500 to create an official Fruit Tree 101 curriculum for our Uganda and other school projects around the world! We've created a separate mini-fundraiser here on GlobalGiving--check it out and please consider donating and sharing the fundraiser with your friends and family!

Uganda Program Director Edward distributing trees
Muli mutya friends,
While we are in the planning phase for our next Uganda tree planting and distribution project in 2020, we thought it'd be nice to introduce you to the amazing team we have in the country.
Meet Edward, our Uganda Programs Director who first reached out to FTPF almost 10 years ago to launch a fruit tree planting initiative in his adopted country. Edward, originally from Tanzania, is the Executive Director of the local NGO Africa Partnership on Climate Change Coalition and has dedicated his life to mitigating climate change in East Africa. As the director of our programs and partner nursery in Jinja, Edward is in charge of ensuring that tens of thousands of saplings are grown to the highest standard in the nursery and planted with communities, schools, and municipalities throughout the region. Edward is passionate about creating positive change in Uganda through the planting and distribution of fruit trees and we are grateful to have him leading this initiative!
Keep an eye out for our next project report which will introduce more members of our Uganda team!
Musiibe bulungi (Have a nice day)!
