Operating since 1998, Pajacyk is a support programme for children at risk of social exclusion, who come from less privileged environments and grapple with disabilities or difficult experiences. The programme offers food and psychosocial assistance. We help children across Poland regardless of their nationality. Pajacyk's Christmas Table is an annual charity event, during which owners of catering establishments donate 10% of their daily turnover to support children in need in Poland.
Social exclusion, poverty, disability or other problems are the reality of many children in Poland. Therefore, some of them face the problem of lack of regular hot meals, which affects their health and development. Another challenge is the mental health of children and adolescents, which has been intensified by the coronavirus pandemic. Progressive isolation and loneliness led to an increase in psychological disorders among the youth.
As Polish Humanitarian Action, we offer food support in schools and community centers. We take care of the mental health of children and adolescents by funding psychological consultations, as well as support groups and other workshops. We also raise awareness among parents, caregivers and teachers about children's mental health and support them in this regard.
Well-balanced meals will provide ingredients that support the maturation and functioning of the entire body. As a result, children will be able to focus on learning and memorizing. They will have more energy to play and achieve goals. Psychological support for children going through difficult experiences is crucial for their later development. Mental health assistance will help youth to restore their sense of security and strengthen their sense of self-esteem.
