Floods 2025 and building sustainable, resilient and empowered communities is a big challenge.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an urgent flood alert for Punjab starting from July 21, 2025, warning of high-water levels in major rivers and nearby low-lying areas. This alert comes in response to forecasted heavy monsoon rains, which may cause dangerous flooding in various regions of the province. According to the official update, rivers including the Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi, Sutlej, and Indus are expected to experience a significant rise in water levels by July 22. These rising levels could overflow into nearby streams and low-lying villages, posing a serious risk to lives, crops, and infrastructure.

High Alert for Flood-Prone Areas

The PDMA has instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners in Punjab to stay on high alert, activate emergency protocols, and ensure that rescue and relief teams are ready. Precautionary measures such as evacuations, clearing of drainage systems, and the setup of relief camps are already underway in vulnerable districts.
