GRACE Cares will provide much needed relief to communities affected by COVID-19 in conjunction with our local heroes who are leading Project Hearts in the Dominican Republic, the Lucknow Project in India, and Kali to Kali in Rwanda. This initiative will dramatically improve the quality of life and healthcare of the people of the Baitoa region in the Dominican Republic, the Lucknow region in India, and the Kigali region in Rwanda in their struggle against the current pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in the world community, with over 11 million cases and 0.5 million deaths. Particularly in the developing world, people lack the personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves and slow the spread of the disease. Beyond the negative health impacts, the lockdowns have made it difficult for people in the developing world to survive economically. Without a regular income, people in the Dominican Republic, India, and Rwanda struggle to survive.
This project will offer technical assistance and material support to Project Hearts (Dominican Republic), the Lucknow Project (India), and Kali to Kali (Rwanda) to address the COVID-19 epidemic in their communities. With GRACE Cares's support, Project Hearts will distribute bags of food and provide monthly assistance to needy families; the Lucknow Project will enhance the reach of their community fund to assist affected members; and Kali to Kali will distribute masks and hygiene materials.
In this unprecedented time, families in the Dominican Republic, India, and Rwanda need help to survive the COVID-19 pandemic and to preserve their quality of life. The long-term impacts of GRACE Cares and our local heroes providing much needed relief to these communities is the immediate survival of their local members and the long-term sustainability of their way of life. Furthermore, teaching community members how to stay safe from COVID-19 means they can avoid contracting it in the future.
