Open Discussion with my classmates

Dear GlobalGiving Donors,

This semester, several classes were run during the weekdays, but unfortunately I could only participate in the weekend classed. I realize that if I want to graduate soon, I have to make more effort to attend the weekday classes however my circumstance make it difficult for me as I am working full time.  The weekday classed start at night after office hours but with the heavy traffic in Jakarta, it is difficult for me to arrive on time.

This semester, we learned Accounting for the Public Sector, Accounting Theory and Indonesian Economics. In these classes we learned not only from the lecturer in class but also from open discussions, student’s presentations, journals and academic papers.  These classes taught the students to be more independent and creative.

Last month was the month of Ramadhan - a time for Moslem people to fast. We restrained from eating from sunrise to sunset. During the day we did our activities normally, it is not much different from our daily routine.  The campus schedules were also the same as in other months.  And at the end of the month I had my mid-term exams then we had a break for two weeks. I took this moment to bring my family to visit our relatives in Jakarta. The common tradition in Indonesia that we celebrate Idul Fitri (Eid – Islamic Holiday) in our hometown, this tradition is called “mudik” in Bahasa. But this year my family and I decided to stay in Jakarta. Normally we would go to our hometown in  Solo in Central Java.

I will have my final exams at the end of this month and I will do my best to pass and get good grades. A couple of years ago, I would never ever dare to dream that one day I will have the opportunity to experience and continue my study in university. But with your generous support and trust in me, now I am in university finishing my fifth semester of study. Thank you so very much for granting my wish.

Kind regards,

Paridi
