This project will bring the people voice to the forefront of development and bring the reality of people living Nepalese remote villages to the government agencies, non-profit organizations and policy makers. The projects aims to build better community engagement and help concerned agencies to make better decisions while planning and implementing projects and policies. The videos will be made by the community members themselves and will be filmed at local, district and central levels.
In developing countries like Nepal, community voices are often unheard. Policies are made by central governments and international agencies who plan the development projects in these the needy and remote areas. Thus, development approaches and peoples needs and aspirations do not match completely. This leads to project failure having most needy areas of the actual beneficiaries are ignored. Community feedback is not reaching the concerned stakeholders. This is the problem.
This project will bring forth the voice of people from some of the most remote communities of Nepal eg. Karnali region of the mid western and far western Nepal via participatory videos. The locals will themselves choose the theme , topic and story to film and to show the outside world . The videos made by the people will be screened at local, district and central level events in front of concerned government and non government agencies to show the exact situation and voices of locals.
The project will create a series of locally made audio visual documents freely sharable at social and mass media bringing the actual situation and aspirations of the most needy beneficiaries of development. This will bring a drastic change in who development projects are planned and implemented by Government, non government agencies , donors and international agencies.
