People with physical disabilities require physiotherapy services to achieve daily activities and independent functional mobility. AIFO India started a free physiotherapy service for people with disabilities who can't afford physiotherapy services. People affected by leprosy, people with disabilities, burns victims, stroke, and daily wage labour will benefit from this project.
Disability leads to poverty and physiotherapy is often a late-stage rehabilitation intervention. Most people with disabilities usually spent the maximum money in hospitals. People with spinal cord injury, stroke, and burns require physiotherapy which is not easily available.
Free physiotherapy services at home and caregiver training for severe physical disabilities will be provided. This will be provided for people who can't move, which will help them to improve their mobility and function. As a result, the ulcer can be prevented and managed well, bed-related complications and respiratory problems can be avoided.
Early intervention of physiotherapy in stroke, spinal cord injury, and burns victims will help them for rapid recovery. Caregiver training will reduce caregiver stress, secondary complication for people with disabilities. Physiotherapy at home will improve the mobility functional ability at the earliest. Physiotherapy at the clinic will ensure independent mobility and return to livelihood opportunities. This project will improve the physical, medical status, and socioeconomic status.
