In the last quarter, Sparshaguna team collaborated with another organization after which it helped us provide assistive devices to some people. The devices included a few orthoses and prostheses which eased many lives improving their quality of life.
In Gulbarga, we visited 30 cases of locomotor disability and assessed them thoroughly, teaching them home exercises.
We also conducted a 2-day screening camp where we could cover 55 cases, majorly all having some form of locomotor disability. Out of all the above, 33 cases were needing assistive devices. Last week, we managed to organize another camp for assessment and taking measurement for the devices.
Only 21 patients turned up for the same. In the last few months, one of our remotely working team could recognize 33 cases of locomotor disability in Gauribidanur which needed thorough assessment, following which 25 cases were identified which needed assistive devices and all were taught home exercises considering the requirements. By the first week of March, we could give away the same which included orthoses, prostheses, wheelchairs and trained them well regarding its use.
Along with our community work, we were giving equal attention to our in-patients at Summanahalli and could successfully discharge 5 patients after completion of their rehabilitation.
