Chopping circles around the trees!

By Jennifer Smith | Project Leader

Chopping circles around the trees
Chopping circles around the trees

Here comes dry season and we are ready. The workers have been chopping circles around the trees! Its such a beautioful sight. And even more beautiful because 13 Costa Rican families have earned money taking care of all ofg the trees during this very difficult 2020 year. We planted over 1800 new biodiverse trees, replaced 345 dead trees which died in the hard dry season 2020 and continued caring for over 12,000 babies from 6 months to 6 years old. Each year we releaser grown 6 year old trees and this year we added to our established foresty growth in the area proving we really can regenerate rainforest with long term care on dead cattle pastureland.

With your support and continued generosity, we continue to  produce baby trees in our  tree nurseries while supporting our women's group fertile soil compost  business. We were also able to proivide a positive activity for local children to attend Kid's Nature Days when school was cancelled. Everyone enjoyed being outside with hands in the soil and we are happy to be able to continue dedicating ourself to nature education. With hard times all over, our community is more  grateful than ever that we can keep up and keep the faith that everything we need will be available.

We want to share this positive attitude with you for 2021. We appreciate you. You are part of our rainforest community that gives back so much. We have more big plans for 2021.

By the way, we just learned that you can donate the equity from your stocks with a full tax deduction from GlobalGiving. This is a very attractive way for so many of you to finish out the year, and give back to Mother Earth and future genertations especially because the stock market performed very well. Just search stock donations on the GlobalGiving site and follow the instructions before the last day of 2020. What a great way to end the year with an amplified  WINNING  combination.
