2025 marked a turning point for Pro Eco Azuero. What began years ago as a grassroots effort to restore forests in the Azuero Peninsula has grown into a community-led conservation model with national and international recognition. This year, your support helped strengthen not only trees in the ground, but the systems, people, and partnerships that make long-term restoration possible.
Throughout the year, Pro Eco Azuero combined large-scale reforestation with deep community engagement. We planted 63,000 native trees with the support of local teams and more than 450 volunteers druing reforestation season, achieving survival rates as high as 94% and 96% in some sites. At the same time, women-led nurseries produced thousands of healthy seedlings, youth were trained as green tourism guides, and children across 30 rural schools continued learning through our Spider Monkey environmental education program. These efforts reflect an integrated approach where forests, livelihoods, and education grow together.
Beyond fieldwork, 2025 was a year of institutional growth and resilience. Despite early funding challenges, Pro Eco Azuero strengthened its seed bank and nursery systems, expanded agroforestry initiatives like cacao production, and deepened collaboration with Panama’s Ministry of Environment and other national partners. The organization also received international recognition for its education work and secured new long-term conservation assets, including land dedicated to restoration and community training.
For our donors, this progress means your contributions go far beyond a single planting season. You are helping build a lasting conservation platform led by rural communities—one that restores ecosystems, empowers women and youth, and prepares Azuero to face climate change with resilience and hope.
Thank you for growing this vision with us.
